We all have a favourite place where we like to go reading, relaxing or maybe sleeping. It’s our place, well, not legally but emotionally. Where is it that you go to find peace? Houses can often be filled with screams, fights, tv noise, music, and lots more interfering elements. I suggest, on top of all choices, and not because this website is inspired by an Oak, to find yourself your own gian tree to sit under.
It’s a great choice for the following 5 reasons:
1. It’s unlikely that someone joins you if you sit under a tree. It would be like someone joining you in the bathroom. It’s an intimate experience and they would know they would bother you!
2. It stimulates your imagination or concentration. The fact that you will sit there makes you feel like you belong to something bigger. Generations of poets and students have sit under a tree to follow their passions, you’re there now.
3. The sound of the leaves. Yes, just like the sound of the sea, the sound of leaves moving increases your concentration and creates a wonderful background sound to your reading/writing.
Can’t find any more reasons, as these are just major ones! What about your place? Do you have one? Do you need one?
I just wrote a blog recently about this same topic, but to reiterate, my perfect spot is sitting in the grass right across the lake back in my hometown. In the summer time it’s always this weather that’s so perfect that you barely feel it at all, and in that area people are always having bonfires, so your senses are bombarded with the scent of smoke, which I love. It’s perfect for writing more ‘epic’ or ‘adventurous’ scenes.
Thanks for your comment. Now that I think of it, I will probably have a post about smells too
I love how bonfire smoke smells, it reminds me of someplace genuine. Don’t know how!
